Dog Of The Week

Meet Baxter, Our Dog Of The Week.

Baxter is a 4-year-old mixed breed with a big heart who’s been waiting far too long for his forever home. After coming to us as a stray from Somerset, Baxter has sadly become our longest resident. He has spent 1,017 days in the shelter. That’s over two years of watching other dogs leave for loving homes while he stays behind in the same kennel every single day and night.

Baxter keeps getting overlooked because he needs to be the only pet in the home, and he would do best in a home without children under 13. Little kids can just be a bit overwhelming for him. But there is so much more to Baxter than those requirements.

Once you get to know him, you’ll discover what an amazing dog he truly is.  Baxter LOVES playing fetch, going for walks, and spending quality time with his people. Those moments when he’s outside the kennel, getting attention and love, are when he shines the brightest.

Baxter doesn’t need a perfect home—just the right one. A calm, loving place where he can be your one and only best friend. A place where he can finally leave shelter life behind and know what it feels like to truly belong.

He’s waited so long for someone to choose him… maybe that someone is you.

Baxter is also one of our special Angel Dogs, which means his adoption fee has already been fully covered by an anonymous donor!

Please share Baxter’s story and help us finally find him the loving home he deserves.
