I may be a little guy, but I have a big heart. I am ten to eleven months old and a Jack Russell Terrier Beagle mix. The Humane Officer rescued me and brought me to the shelter. I think other dogs are okay but I have never lived with cats so I don’t have an opinion about them. I like kids and think people are just great. I have lots of love to give and am hoping that I can get a new home where I will be treated like a valued family member. Please don’t make me wait too long, I am anxious to be on my way to a new life.

Hey, does anyone out there have a cat brush and need a cat to go with it? I just love to get brushed, it is so relaxing. I am a neutered two and a half year old cat that lived with a family before but lost my home when the land lord kicked me out….no pets allowed!! I am a good cat even if the old landlord thought other wise. I am glad to be at the shelter but consider it TEMPORARY accommodations. So please people get the brush ready and then come get me and we will live happily ever after.

A Cat's Journey to Adoption Through the Shelter
Whatever route brings a cat to the shelter, upon arrival they enter the isolation section of the building. After being examined, given a FVRCP shot and signed in they are placed in a cage filled with clean bedding, food, water, toys, etc. Within a week (5 – 7 days) on veterinarian day, they will be examined, given a rabies shot, and after being deemed healthy, will start migrating through the shelter.
First stop is the cat room. While there, every cat gets 30 minutes a day out of it’s cage to play or rest in one of our exercise playrooms. Thanks to our cat cuddler program, they may also get some personal attention and someone to play with. When our youth volunteers are at the shelter, they just love to interact with the cats and kittens. The cats are rotated so they get to stay overnight in this room.
If the cats are at the shelter long enough, they may be part of our spay and neuter program. Once a cat has been spayed or neutered they are eligible to be moved into our cat colony. The cat colony is a room where cats (8 to 9 maximum) roam free and interact with one another. The room is filled with cat condos, toys, and a window and sill for sitting and viewing the world outside. There is a bench for resting, or for visitors or prospective adoptive families to sit and interact with the cats.
If you would like to help make the cats’ stay at the shelter more enjoyable and interesting, please come and volunteer to join one of our programs. If you prefer, you can foster a cat since this time of year brings many new cats and kittens that put a strain on the shelter.
You can make a difference in the lives of these animals and make their stay more hopeful that they will find that special family or that special someone sooner.
If anyone is interested in adding a new addition to their family please consider a shelter cat or kitten. We have all colors, sizes, and shapes!!!!!

In partnership with Purina® Pets for People™ we are happy to offer a Purina® Pets for Seniors discount program to qualified seniors, sixty years of age and older.
The Pets for Seniors program helps to cover the cost of adoption fees and provides product information‚ coupons‚ and a pet care booklet. Why? Studies have shown that pet companionship may actually help improve senior citizen health and outlook on life.
Find out more by visiting the Purina® Pets for Seniors website or by calling our shelter.
